A Multidisciplinary Approach to HIV/AIDS Prevention and Care

Elizabeth Barrera, Rollins School of Public Health
Alejandra Mijares, Rollins School of Public Health
Rebecca Wheeler, Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing

This project brought together students from Emory University with students from Puebla, Mexico and the Instituto Nacional de Salud Publica to work collaboratively on a project focusing on HIV/AIDS prevention and care. Emory students learned about the status of HIV/AIDS in Mexico including the unique characteristics of the disease, its epidemiological and social determinants, and the available resources for prevention and care in Mexico. They also attended the International AIDS Conference that took place in Mexico City in August 2008.
