2009 Global Development and Health Symposium
As part of Global Development and Health Week, the Emory Global Health Institute and the Goizueta Business School co-sponsored a symposium that brought business, development, and health issues together. The symposium's specific objectives were to: 1) create awareness of the issues confronting global development, 2) discuss the intersection of business and health to create sustainable outcomes in developing nations, and 3) provide examples of successful business and health initiatives to develop models for global replication. Speakers included: John McArthur, CEO, Millennium Promise (Keynote Speaker) Bruce McNamer, President and CEO, Technoserve Steve Sencer, Deputy General Counsel, Emory University Afzaal Malik, Director, International Government Relations, The Coca-Cola Company Dr. Jeffrey P. Koplan, EGHI Director and VP for Global Health, Emory University The symposium was initiated and coordinated by Chris Brown, a Goizueta Business School (GBS) student, and several other GBS students and members of the Institute's Student Advisory Committee.
