Program in International Health Ethics

The Emory Global Health Institute has provided funding to the Emory University Center for Ethics to establish a Program in International Health Ethics that will partner with institutions and scholars in Ethiopia, Mexico, and Moscow Oblast. The primary goals of this interdisciplinary program will be to:

  • Assess international issues in health care and research ethics through active involvement of international residents and fellows at Emory University and its local partner, the Georgia Institute of Technology;
  • Establish a core collaborative partnership for international bioethics scholarship at Emory and with its partner organizations; and
  • Convene an interdisciplinary strategic planning conference involving visiting scholars in international bioethics as well as Emory faculty and faculty from partner organizations.

Program faculty will also conduct preliminary work on an international bioethics curricular design with particular focus on Ethiopia, Mexico, and Moscow Oblast. By developing bioethics capacity training programs and materials for international fellows, producing primary publications, and convening an international bioethics conference, the Program in International Ethics will extend bioethics scholarship and provide a novel intersection for research and work across Emory University and with its partner countries.
