Global Health Institute Team Field Scholars Quick Links The Global Health Institute Team Field Scholars Program promotes student learning by linking academic study with practical experience in the field. Students work in teams (preferably multidisciplinary) to conduct short-term global health projects focusing on underserved and/or vulnerable populations around the world. It is expected that each team member work on a different aspect of the same global health issue. Team applicants can conduct projects either abroad or within the United States, however, they must demonstrate a significant need in the population with whom they propose to work. Scholarship teams will receive up to $3,000 per student to conduct their projects, with a maximum award of $12,000. Working Across Cultures In addition to conducting a global health project, team field scholars are required to attend a course focusing on cultural sensitivity, health, and safety issues while working abroad. Stay tuned for more information regarding the spring 2010 workshop. Who can apply? Emory students with a minimum GPA of 3.0 are eligible to apply for Team Field Scholar Awards. Applicants must have prior research experience/appropriate coursework and/or have participated in a relevant independent project. Applicants must have an Emory and an in-country field mentor, and they must partner with an in-country organization. Proficiency in the project country's primary language is preferred, but not required. Priority will be given to team proposals that include students from multiple Emory schools and departments. Students must be enrolled at Emory the semester following their field experience. Application Deadline for Summer 2010 Projects: January 25th, 2010 *Rollins School of Public Health students applying for both RSPH Global Field Experiences (GFE) and Individual GHI Field Scholar Awards are required to complete the GFE application only.
