Global Health Institute Partner Site Field Scholars

The Global Health Institute Partner Site Field Scholars Program promotes student learning by linking academic study with practical experience at a Global Health Institute partner site. Partner Site Field Scholars work in teams to conduct short-term global health projects that have been jointly identified by Global Health Institute partner sites and Emory University faculty. Funding amounts will vary depending on the partner site and project identified.

In addition to conducting a global health project with a GHI partner site, scholars are required to attend a course associated with the experience and participate in a local practicum experience.

2008 Partner Site

Hospital Civil de Puebla, Mexico.

Who can apply?

Emory students eligible to apply will have a minimum GPA of 3.0, prior research experience/appropropriate coursework, have participated in a relevant independent project, and be proficient in the partner country's primary language. For the 2008 award, Emory students in the schools of allied health, medicine, nursing, and public health are eligible to apply. Students must apply to individual representatives in their schools. From these applications, schools will then nominate students to be considered by the Global Health Institute. While the 2008 award is limited to students nominated by schools in the health sciences, the Global Health Institute plans to open the program to the entire University in 2009.
