External Funding Opportunities

The following websites provide information regarding external global health funding opportunities, internships, and fellowships for interested students.

Fogarty International Center for Advanced Study in the Health Sciences Directory of Grants and Fellowships in the Global Health Sciences: Since 1988, the Fogarty International Center has published the Directory of International Grants and Fellowships in the Health Sciences. The current volume is a comprehensive compilation of international funding opportunities in biomedical and behavioral research.

University of Virginia Student Research Funding Opportunities: UVA has developed a collection of student research award and funding opportunities. The majority of the opportunities are designed for medical students and residents, however, some opportunities are appropriate for public health and other allied health students.

Global Engagement Summer Institute 2009: The Global Engagment Summer Institute is a two-course summer study abroad program focused on community development in a global context. It will send 60 students to La Plata, Argentina; Udaipur, India; or Jinja, Uganda. Students from around the country will learn about international development, global engagment practices, project management, leadership, and the realities of contemporary Argentinean, Indian, or Ugandan life by connecting them with community-based organizations to co-design and collaboratively implement a small-scale community development project. Applications are available at www.mycge.org. For more information, contact Ryan Pederson at the Northwestern Center for Global Engagement at ryan-pederson@northwestern.edu.
