2013 International Emory Global Health Case Competition

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I apply for the 2013 International Emory Global Health Case Competition?
You can go to this application site to apply, beginning at 9:00 am EDT on November 1, 2012.

Who can participate in the International Emory Global Health Case Competition?
Graduate and undergraduate students enrolled at accredited universities are invited to participate. Teams should be comprised of four to six students, and three or more disciplines must be represented. For example, 2012's winning team was comprised of one business student, one medical student, three public health students, and one law student. Post-graduate and post-doctoral fellows are not eligible to participate.

How many teams can each university send to the International Emory Global Health Case Competition?
In an effort to engage a wide range of universities in the competition, we can only accept an application from one team per university. Emory University will only be sending one team to the March 23rd case competition as well. In 2013, Emory will accept up to 23 guest university teams located across the globe. 24 teams (23 guest universities plus Emory University) will compete with each other on the Emory University campus in Atlanta, Georgia.

What is the time commitment for participants?
The case will be released the evening of Monday, March 18th. Presentations will be due the morning of Saturday, March 23rd. Once the case is released, each team may decide when and how much to work on its presentation. Last year, guest university teams arrived on the Thursday evening before Saturday's presentation day and participated in a team workday that Friday. Teams were encouraged to stay through Sunday morning so that they would not miss Saturday night's networking and social activities.

How does a guest university apply?
Guest universities may apply to participate online between November 1-15, 2012. We will make a special application site available the week of October 29th. The APPLY NOW feature will go live at 9:00 am EDT on November 1, 2012 and will remain live until 11:59 pm EST on November 15, 2012. Please note that the time changes from eastern daylights savings to eastern standard time during the application period. Teams will be selected on a first come first served basis.
