Lawrence M. Benveniste, PhD

Lawrence M. Benveniste, PhD Lawrence M. Benveniste is Dean and Asa Griggs Candler Professor of Finance of the Goizueta Business School of Emory University. Before joining Emory in July 2005, Dean Benveniste was dean of the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. He also served as the Carlson School’s interim dean, associate dean of faculty and research, and as chair of its finance department. Additionally, he held the U.S. Bancorp Professor in Finance endowed chair.

Dean Benveniste is considered one of the world’s foremost experts on initial public offerings. He has served as a staff economist for the board of governors of the Federal Reserve System in Washington, DC, where he helped develop a number of significant regulatory initiatives including risk-based capital, which monitors the equity value of commercial banks to protect the deposit insurance system. He has consulted and lectured widely on subjects such as the valuation of commercial real estate and credit scoring. Dean Benveniste has authored and co-authored 28 papers on topics ranging from contract design for problem asset disposition to the allocation and pricing of new equity issues. In addition, he serves on the Rimage and Alliance Data Systems boards.
